For many, a daily meal is just a choice of what to eat for dinner. But for people facing hunger, a daily meal poses a very different type of choice. It’s often an impossible choice between food and other critical needs such as electricity, childcare, or medicine. Friday, September 1 marks the start of Hunger Action Month. Westroads Mall is proud to partner with Food Bank for the Heartland to help neighbors in need.
All month long you can drop off non-perishable food items in designated blue barrels located on the upper level near Flagship Commons. You can also drop off non-perishable items every Saturday in September at the Omaha Flea Market at Westroads Mall from noon until 5 p.m. Some of the most needed items include peanut butter, macaroni & cheese, canned tuna & chicken, cereal, pancake mix, canned fruits & vegetables, pasta & sauce, rice, and boxed meals.
